  • Houston Re-Opening July 8, 2013

After nearly 5 months of renovations, the Palm Restaurant Houston reopens to the general public* for lunch and dinner on Monday, July 8, 2013.

Houston guests are in for a treat as the restaurant has not just been remodeled, but rather rebuilt in nearly every aspect from the ground up with sensitivity to nostalgia and tradition. In addition to a redesign, there is a larger footprint, a new lounge, new lunch menu items and new signage.

"Our goal through this process has been to retain, and in some cases reclaim, the best of The Palm's signatures. We believe our in-depth look at our brand will greatly enhance the overall experience for guests, as well as establish a stronger connection with our newest generation of Palm patrons," said Bruce Bozzi, Jr., 4th generation Palm family and Executive Vice President.

An additional and important 1,800 square feet was gained by the acquisition of a neighboring cigar store, bringing the restaurant's total size to just over 8,000 square feet. The decor will merge established "Palm effects" like rich wood detailing and old-world art with a contemporary twist that introduces a warmer color palette, plush seating and ambient lighting.

Guests will be greeted by an entirely revised entrance, relocated to the front corner of the building and facing the bustling Westheimer corridor. A centrally located "feature wall" will expand on The Palm's beloved caricatures with a mural designed by Philadelphia-based artist Zack Bird, who as recreated artwork that would be traditionally seen at a mid-century Palm Restaurant. The new wall will incorporate iconic Houston places and people, including the Astrodome, NASA, Mayor Annise Parker and longtime customers.

Once inside, patrons will be introduced to a dramatic bar with red leather seating for 25, which immediately fronts the entrance and serves as a focal point of the restaurant. To the left, an intimate lounge with a hammered tin ceiling will be outfitted with plush, leather-upholstered booths, two 55-inch flat screens and cocktail tables for casual dining. To the right of the bar, the distinctive and inviting dining room with seating for up to 300 will be punctuated by an elevated row of 14 tufted, red leather banquettes lining the walls, as well as streetlamp-inspired chandeliers. The raised seating will merge at one corner to create a group table for parties of ten. Finally, to the rear of the main bar, a private and divisible 1,400 square foot function room will accommodate standing cocktails for 125 and will be equipped with 60-inch flat screens and an audio/visual system for presentations.
